Kid's Talk: Freedom of expression and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

This publication finds that although the CRC is the most widely
accepted of all human rights treaties, in many countries children's
rights to freedom of expression and information is lost amidst
arguments about child welfare and protection. Article 19
advocates a bolder approach to interpreting the CRC, which
would help to guarantee full respect for children's rights.

Case studies consider the active involvement of children in conflict
in Sierra Leone, Uganda and South Africa, as well as looking at
the way children are denied a voice in forums ranging from
schools to courts.
