Georgia's Juvenile Justice Code entered into force in 2016. The adoption of the new Code has been repeatedly commended as an important and progressive step; however, no thorough analysis has been carried out to see whether the entities involved in the administration of justice interpret it in a uniform way. Nor has the enforcement of the Code in practice or in the light of effective quality control system been studied either.

This document presents the problem of corporal punishment of children in Georgia and analyses the legal flaws that permit this phenomenon in the country. Children who experience pain and trauma caused by corporal punishment on a daily basis are unable to seek protection under legal and other human rights mechanisms. In fact, corporal punishment is considered to be a natural part of child rearing and appropriate discipline in Georgia today. No state agency ensures that positive parenting techniques are taught to prospective or current parents.

Гости, приезжающие в Тбилиси, часто шокированы количеством бездомных детей на центральных улицах столицы. Проблема "детей улиц" - одна из самых актуальных проблем в Грузии. Власти страны совместно с НПО пытаются найти решение, чтобы помочь детям, которые вынуждены жить и работать на улице.

Родным домом для таких детей является улица или Тбилисский метрополитен, где они на протяжении всего дня, переходя из вагона в вагон, из поезда в поезд с пластмассовой кружкой, просят о помощи.

Новый статус «бесприютный ребенок» даст возможность профильным госструктурам помочь таким детям. Прежде они не попадали ни в одну из существующих официальных категорий, для которых предусмотрена опека государства.
