En Bélgica -uno de los pocos países en Europa donde los médicos pueden asistir a pacientes terminales a morir por su propia voluntad- los legisladores discuten si ese derecho debe ser extendido a los menores de edad.

Esta miércoles, un comité del Senado belga votó a favor de un proyecto de ley que ampara ese derecho para menores. Si logra pasar una serie de pasos más, se convertirá en ley.

VIH: La OMS y UNICEF alertan sobre el incremento de adolescentes con VIH en el mundo

[16 July 2012] - As elections for new members of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child draw near, it is time for NGOs to take action to make sure those elected measure up to the job.

The elections will take place on 18 December 2012 at the 14th meeting of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of the Child in New York. The terms of the nine outgoing members will end on 28 February 2013. Some of the members whose terms are coming to an end will stand for re-election, but we have no official confirmation of this yet.

CAMBODIA: Underage defendants routinely jailed - report

ESPAÑA: Arrestan a hombre con 8.000 imágenes de pornografía infantil

Las autoridades en España informaron que arrestaron a un hombre con la mayor colección de pornografía infantil jamás hallada en manos de una persona.

La policía dijo que fueron encontradas unas 8.000 imágenes de niños -algunos de ellos menores de 13 años- siendo víctimas de algún tipo de abuso sexual.

También anotaron que encontraron un manual para buscar infantes, donde se describían técnicas para seducirlos sin ser detectados.
