In this submission we discuss how imposing a blanket ban on all child work without addressing the economic conditions which push children to work in the first place is not the best way to advance children’s interests. The submission also looks at ways of applying a rights based approach to child work in the context of the sustainable development goals, particularly Goal 8.

Le premier ministre australien, Malcolm Turnbull, a annoncé, mardi 26 juillet, l’ouverture d’une enquête concernant le traitement des mineurs placés en centres de détention après la diffusion lundi soir d’images vidéo montrant notamment des gardiens de prison soumettant des détenus adolescents à des gaz lacrymogènes ou encore attachant à une chaise un garçon encagoulé et à moitié nu.
